Full HD movie
To make the most of its SLR image quality when recording movies, the E-PL3 can record full HD movies in the super-high-quality AVCHD. For easy and convenient playback and editing on a computer or web uploading, the E-PL3 can also record HD movies in the AVI Motion JPEG format. Further assurance of quality is provided by the multimotion-compatible movie IS system, which stabilizes the slow shake produced when shooting while walking. You' ll also be able to take full advantage of the E-PL3's collection of Art Filters to express your creative vision. High-quality stereo audio can be recorded in either the Dolby Digital format (AVCHD recording) or the linear PCM format (AVI Motion JPEG recording). Movies can be viewed on your TV and controlled by your TV's remote by connecting a commercially available HDMI mini-cable

Face and Eye detection AF/Tracking AF
Sophisticated and accurate, the face and eye detection AF function lets you prioritize nearer eye, left-side eye or right-side eye to capture sharp, detailed expressions in portrait shooting. When not required, you can switch it off. For accurate autofocusing of moving subjects, the tracking AF function employs an advanced new detection algorithm that uses the chroma data and face detection data, as well as the luminance signal to improve the accuracy of tracking. In addition, an AF illuminator is provided to support autofocusing in low light.

New 12.3-megapixel Live MOS Sensor
The E-PL3 incorporates a new 12.3-megapixel High Speed Live MOS sensor that is a high-sensitivity, high-speed version of the traditional Live MOS sensor. The sensor is also compatible 1920 x 1080/59.94i full HD-format movie recording. The use of the line addition method for readout of lines in movies and Live View images improves image reproduction. Maximum sensitivity has also been boosted to as high as ISO12800, which can improve shooting under low light, indoors or using a faster shutter speed.

Flip-out wide screen 3.0-inch LCD Monitor for more freedom when shooting
The E-PL3 is the first PEN model to incorporate a flip-out LCD monitor in a compact body. With a tilting mechanism capable of varying the orientation by 80 degrees upward or 45 degrees downward, this LCD gives you the freedom to take advantage of a much wider range of shooting, from the high angles useful in crowded environments such as a sports event or rock concert to the low angles helpful when taking pictures of children or pets. With its wide 3.0-inch screen, this high-definition LCD monitor will be really appreciated by anyone who enjoys active photography.
